Reflection Paper 2

My paper #2 is research about the pyramid of Giza, the area which I interested in but did not know more details about it. I aimed to find some change and evolution of this artifact or culture.

There are some important reasons about why I choose Giza as object of study. Firstly, pyramid is a necessary thing in the whole world, no matter what time, no matter what place, and no matter whom. Secondly, I have read some pretty good books about pyramid, and I know a few basic theories about pyramid meaning and structure. And thirdly, Egypt culture is a beginning of the whole world, even in some other countries. I’m interested in figure out Giza’s evolution during time pass, what different between countries of pyramid, and Giza brings what change for a time or a place.

Of course, the knowledge about tea I have known is not enough to finish an excellent culture literacy paper. So and then I need to find many useful information and many details about producing tea from Internet, and library is also a nice try. What I have done for my culture literacy paper is that I have already collected few tips of APA and MLA manuals that mentioned in assignment and I’m not sure that time. And I was using Google to gather some basic details about tea’s evolution in China and USA just now.

I believe that cultures of tea in several countries are significant, such as China, Japan, India, and Italy. And most students in China know that tea is one of the most important ways to open the locked door in previously China, no matter what effect it had, it is a key, that is doubtless. Every culture’s evolution and development may have it’s own story, and in my culture literacy paper, I want to excavate these stories and understand more about tea’s trade and change.
How many information you know about Egypt culture? Pyramid, Mummy, or Sphinx? Most of people can name these three things, but how many details you understand of them? About the paper#2 of culture literacy, I will show some really mystery and interesting knowledge of Egypt culture, and focus on Pyramid and Mummy.

Secondly, I need to clarify a point; most of people believe that the pyramid is the representative of Egypt, I undeniable that this is a fact. But pyramid not only exists in Egypt, many other places have pyramids, for example, in Asia, Europe, and Africa. Just because that pyramids originated in Egypt, the Egyptian pyramids are the most spectacular and magnificent, and full of mysteries. Older stuff, more people want to take a closer look and learn more.

Reflection of Paper 1

My paper #1 is a literacy about tennis, the area which I was not interested in but eventually fall in love with. I aimed to show some really important and necessary issue during my tennis time to you. There are some important reasons about why I choose Tennis as a literacy.Tennis not only teaches me how to play a sport or how to win a game, but also teaches me never give up when we meet some problem, and always keep trust ourselves. During the time I played the tennis, I understand the competitive and cooperation by this sport, the school study is not enough to enrich a person’s, everyone need there own literacies. This is one of the most necessary points to let me keep going on my later study; no matter what trouble I meet. Opportunity is always for those who are ready, waiting for the people who always lament the fate of injustice. In my later life, no matter on tennis or study, even work, I will always remember Miss Zhao’s word: Have you ever seen anyone’s life without trouble? Failures always before succeed, if you cannot accept failure, how can you be successful?Even thought tennis was more unfamiliar to me than Ping Pong, I still fall in love with "vitality" sport. Tennis gave me a lot of surprise and knowledge, which would always lead me in my lifetime.

Jan.20 Reading Question

v Who is Elizabeth Wong? (Remember that we talked about the importance of setting a context before reading).

Elizabeth Wong is a playwright and television writer who grew up in Los Angeles’ Chinatown. Wong wanna be a All-American girl, but her mother always compelled Wong and her brother to go to Chinese school when they were young. She does not like learning Chinese and speaking Chinese, but she cannot change who she is.

v After looking at Carrie’s essay,, White Buds on an Apple Tree, what are some similar “moves” that this writer is making in her essay?

When the author saw her mother’s bad situation, she thought her cannot do not know anything what the doctors talked. She wanna had some change. Maybe she cannot help her mother away from the pain, she could understand how was it going. So she started to learn some specific language that doctors would mention. She began her this literacy by helping her mother.

v How does she begin this essay (intro)?  How does she end the essay (conclusion)?

She begins the essay with a brief statement of her own thought and what she learned from the experience that waiting for her mum to get through all surgeries. She end the essay by explaining what she learned through the waiting in detail. It is an echo for the introduction. In the introduction she said waiting is a game that you need to play with strategy with a strong mind and in the conclision she just explained the strong mind she already had is the literacy skills so that she has begun to develop a new medical literacy.

v How do we know for sure that Wong regrets her assimilation into American culture?  Be specific.

At the last three paragraphs, Wong said she thought of herself as multicultural. Wong wants to fit in – to be an American, she like American culture, food, and even festival more than Chinese. But no matter how she against Chinese things, she cannot change she still one of them. Wong need to know her own country’s culture, not just American culture. I am a Chinese student, to be honest, when I read this essay I feel angry about Wong’s attitude with Chinese culture or language, even though I can understand her feeling. Maybe Wong regrets her assimilation into American culture because she realized no matter what she still part of China, she should balance these two cultures.
